A wounded soldier’s greatest fear. Organeaters are small mammals native to the island of Wiheath. They share a superficial similarity with the common anteater. They made their way to mainland Naramun when the Baramunz Empire connected their colonies on the island to the mainland through tunnel roads. The armies of the mainland have since tamed them. Tame organeaters are used to sort the wounded from the dead after battles. They hunt for the still living organs that make up their diet. Organeaters feed on the organs of other mammalian species, from which they gain their name. This is done through by applying a paralytic toxin, delivered by a bite from their tongue-mouth. Their tongue is long and prehensile. They can extend it to half the length of their body. It ends in a secondary mouth reminiscent of a lamprey. The mouth latches onto its prey and injects the toxin, as well as gnawing an entry point in its flesh. The organeater then extends a flexible proboscis into its prey’s body and uses this to extract organs it consumes. A hunting organeater makes a distinct snuffling sound. Organeaters are family-oriented creatures. Females raise their young to adulthood. Beyond the family unit, the species does not congregate in groups.
