Giant water rabbits are a species of animal created by ancient mages in Tarvesh. They were first given form by merging a common duck and rabbit. The original hybrid animal retained the size of the original duck species. The giant water rabbit is a modification of that original hybrid. Adult giant water rabbits stand an average of 137 centimetres (54 inches) at the withers. They have an average body length of 290 centimetres (114 inches). They are often bred by the Gorkiline Royal Marines and serve as the steeds for Gorkiline marines. Their swimming speed is 16 kilometres (10 miles) per hour, which they can sustain for several hours at a time. Their land speed is 44 kilometres (27 miles) per hour. They are often trained to fight beside their riders and will do so with claw and beak. Water rabbits of the Royal Marines have an armoured muzzle that protects their beak. This allows them to puncture enemy armour. They are sometimes changed further by magic to adapt them to consuming ash from the ashlands.
